When Can I Get in the Park with a DAH Ticket?
This is an often asked question and a topic of much discussion. Disney’s website says “Official check-in for the event will take place at the Main Entrance to Magic Kingdom park beginning at 7:00 PM” (regardless if it’s a 8PM or 9PM DAH) but guests generally reported being allowed in earlier last year (eg, 4pm, similar to MNSSHP and MVMCP). We’ll need to wait and see just how this will be done in 2018 in case there are material changes.
How 2018 Compares to 2017 (hint: it’s pretty much the same)
Dates: For 2017, DAH dates were 1/20, 1/27, 2/2, 2/9, 2/16, 3/2, and 3/9. 7 total nights. So 2018 has the same number of nights covering effectively the same date ranges.
When it was Announced: Not totally sure about this but the earliest Disney blog post I could find on 2017 DAH was 12/8/2016, so quite a bit later in the year. If that is correct, Disney is marketing the 2018 event much earlier this year.
Price: DAH 2017 pricing was $119 per person ages 3+, so no change in pricing for 2018.
Offerings: The event description, including rides and ice cream/soda/water offerings for 2018 appears to be unchanged for 2018 over 2017, I think?
Comparing 2017/2018 to 2016 DAH: For those that find Disney’s trends interesting, the arguably failed experiment that was the 2016 DAH was 7 nights mid-April through mid-May 2016. Hours were either 10PM-1AM or 11PM-2AM depending on the night and it also had a higher price point of $149 per ticket. Most folks tend to view that version of the event as not particularly successful – likely due to a combination of a high price point, no marketing, and late announcement of the event (I believe ticket sales were announced 3/23/16, the first date was 4/14/16). There were reports of extremely low attendance and Disney giving away tickets the day of several nights, and I think they slashed prices for AP and DVC half way through if I remember correctly.
Generally speaking the 2017 version seemed to be more well received overall. I’m assuming the numbers worked well for Disney since we’re seeing this event again in 2018 virtually unchanged from 2017. Obviously just my opinion, but that’s the way it looks from the outside I guess.
Open Rides / Food & Beverage
Disney’s official word on open rides/attractions at the moment is as follows:
…”don’t miss your chance to skip the wait times for more than 25 popular attractions and Character Greetings—including:

Personal Thoughts/Opinion on DAH
I attended the 2/16 DAH event this year with my DS and had a wonderful time. While the park was certainly not empty by any means, most rides were walk-ons or short waits and it was a really fun (although very COLD!) three hours in the MK. I never could get the all-elusive ’empty hub/castle picture’ either, but it was close enough!
And you really haven’t done Disney until you watch the Country Bear Jamboree alone in an empty theater! Actually it’s a little creepy, to be honest.
Help Keep This Thread Updated
Hopefully this thread will be a central spot to share thoughts, opinions, and experiences on the event – both good and bad. We don’t all have to be fans, some people like this event, some don’t. It’s all good!
If I’ve missed anything above or have some facts wrong, please let me know. I’ll try to keep the first page updated with any new/updated info that may come out along the way.
For 2016 and 2017 DAHs, guests were given plastic laminated “lanyards” for the event at check-in. This is how Disney knows who is/isn’t a DAH guest. These actually make for a nice souvenir/keepsake and are an upgrade over the standard wristbands Disney uses at things like MNSSHP, MVMCP, and EMM. TBD whether they continue this in 2018. Here is the 2017 version for reference:
