When Can I Get in the Park with a DAH Ticket?
This is an often asked question and a topic of much discussion. Disney’s website says “Official check-in for the event will take place at the Main Entrance to Magic Kingdom park beginning at 7:00 PM” (regardless if it’s a 8PM or 9PM DAH) but guests generally reported being allowed in earlier last year (eg, 4pm, similar to MNSSHP and MVMCP). We’ll need to wait and see just how this will be done in 2018 in case there are material changes.

Update as of 1/19/2018 – DAH guests were not let in until closer to 7PM on the first DAH night. Probably best to adjust your plans accordingly!

Update as of 1/26/2018 – From early reports, DAH guests reported being let in as early as 6:15ish.

Update as of 1/30/2018 – DISers reported being let in tonight approx 6ish.

How 2018 Compares to 2017 (hint: it’s pretty much the same)
Dates: 2018 has the same number of nights covering effectively the same date ranges as 2017.

When it was Announced: DAH was announced / tickets became available approx 3 months earlier for 2018 DAH dates than they did for 2017 DAH dates.

Offerings: The event description, including rides and ice cream/soda/water offerings for 2018 is unchanged for 2018 over 2017.

Comparing 2017/2018 to 2016 DAH: For those that find Disney’s trends interesting, the arguably failed experiment that was the 2016 DAH was 7 nights mid-April through mid-May 2016. Hours were either 10PM-1AM or 11PM-2AM depending on the night and it also had a higher price point of $149 per ticket. Most folks tend to view that version of the event as not particularly successful – likely due to a combination of a high price point, no marketing, and late announcement of the event (I believe ticket sales were announced 3/23/16, the first date was 4/14/16). There were reports of extremely low attendance and Disney giving away tickets the day of several nights, and I think they slashed prices for AP and DVC half way through if I remember correctly.

Generally speaking the 2017 version seemed to be more well received overall. I’m assuming the numbers worked well for Disney since we’re seeing this event again in 2018 virtually unchanged from 2017. Obviously just my opinion.

Personal Thoughts/Opinion on DAH
I attended the 2/16/17 DAH event with my DS and had a wonderful time. While the park was certainly not empty by any means, most rides were walk-ons or short waits and it was a really fun (although very COLD!) three hours in the MK. I never could get the all-elusive ’empty hub/castle picture’ either, but it was close enough!

And you really haven’t done Disney until you watch the Country Bear Jamboree alone in an empty theater! :goodvibes:goodvibes Actually it’s a little creepy, to be honest.

Event Lanyards
Guests are given plastic laminated “lanyards” for the event at check-in at the front entrance. This is how Disney knows who is/isn’t a DAH guest. These actually make for a nice souvenir/keepsake and are an upgrade over the standard wristbands Disney uses at things like MNSSHP, MVMCP, and EMM. The 2017 lanyard is attached for reference.

Note, you have to get these at the front of the park – Disney does not set up “inside the park” stations like they do at a MNSSHP and MVMCP. Also some guests have reported being able to pick up their lanyard at Guest Relations off Town Square (and maybe even the Liberty Square ticket office as well, but not totally sure about this one).
